Training and
Coaching Program

In-house Training and Innovation Coaching Programs
The Yearly Idea Navigator Guide encourage people to create their own "idea factories" to find new ideas. It provides a unique tool to focus people's attention on the challenges that they face. Finding innovative solutions to the challenges people face requires:

  1. Skills to find and manage ideas.
  2. Challenges that are meaningful to people that require innovative solutions.
  3. Time to focus on the challenges, skills and the ideas to make a difference.

The Idea Factory offers a unique in-house training and coaching program to foster greater innovation. A year long program can make a difference. The Idea Factory provides:

  1. Wow! That's a Great Idea! one-day introduction - Participants receive in-depth overview of the key skills for managing ideas. They will be challenged to define where innovative thinking is needed. They will also practice developing ideas through stages to ensure that ideas are "great ideas" not just average ones! The workshop opens with an introduction for innovative thinking at workshops. A thorough introduction to idea management is a core element of this workshop.
  2. Quarterly One Day Training and Coaching Sessions - Participants come together quarterly to assess their past results, set new challenges, and learn new skills. During the year a range of skills and insights will be given to participants to help them nurture their skills to innovate. Individual and team perspectives will be provided. This includes the use of an innovative thinking styles profile, research involving insights to answer this key question - "what makes innovative organizations innovative?" Programs can also be customized to a team or organization based on the outcomes of the first introduction sessions. Topics of interests can be developed and explored specific to issue the organization is facing. Some of these themes should be identified during the development of an innovation strategy for the team or organization.
  3. On Going Coaching - Participants can also access 20 minutes coaching sessions on an "as required" basis from a pool of experts who can help with specific challenges, process or solutions.
  4. All participants will receive copies of the 2005 Yearly Idea Navigator Guide, Wow! That's a Great Idea! - a 160 page book written by Ed Bernacki, and the Idea Navigator Guide (which provides more details on the five key skills for managing ideas).
  5. Organizations will be involved with the development of a basic innovation strategy to define the specific elements for training and coaching. A summary of this plan is provided on page 15 of the Yearly Idea Navigator Guide.

This program involves initial background meetings, a one day introduction workshop, the development of a basic innovation strategy, and three days of quarterly in house training. The specific content of each program can be customized to an organization. It is designed for groups of 10 to 50 people. Larger groups can be accommodated. A separate proposal can be provided based on the specifics of your organization.
